Faecal Egg Count

Description

A Faecal Egg Count (FEC) should form part of the worming program for every horse, pony and foal.

By gaining an understanding of the worm burden of your horse(s), you can make informed decisions about when to worm – helping to reduce the number of parasites that become resistant to chemical wormers and cut down on redundant doses. To order a test simply:

• Download a Faecal Egg Count Information Sheet
• Pay for your test, either online online or in person if delivering your sample (see information sheet for details on where to deliver)
• Prepare and send us your sample(s)
  • Local to the Sunshine Coast? You can deliver your samples and the Information Sheet to us directly, simply drop them off in our mailbox
  • Not a local? No problem – we accept samples Australia-wide! Consult the Information Sheet for instructions on how to get it to us.

We’ll then send you your results by email within 2 days of receiving the sample. All tests are run in-house by our specially-trained volunteers.

Please note: FECs can only provide a count for Strongyles, not for other parasites such as roundworms, pinworms and tapeworms.
