Artist statement: The love of and connection to animals for many people often starts in early childhood with the family pet. These pets are often dogs who provide a source of play, a willing participant in all adventures, a protector, confidant and general all-time great companion as the child grows in his or her worldly adventures. They also provide a valuable life lesson in being able let go and how to deal with grief as their lifespan is way less than ours. These are all important aspects of providing a sound grounding for the life ahead as a well-balanced human being. My two paintings are taken from my daughter’s documentation of my grandson and watching the interaction between the family pet, Milo, and my grandson, Indigo. It brings absolute joy to witness the unfiltered unconditional love between the two.
