Oil painting on stretched canvas by Syndy Esteves. Exhibited in the Painting & Drawing category at the 2023 Seeing The Soul Art Prize and Exhibition in support of mental health. Syndy entered this beautiful work in the exhibition and donated it to the Sanctuary to raise funds to help support our equine therapy mental health outreach programs.

Name of Work: Where the dandelions grow and the brumbies run free.

Artist Statement: Smokey is a KNP foal born in 2022, that belongs to the Sunshine mob. A wild brumby, he survives as part of the natural selection unlike his sister Sunshine, that was born in 2020 and died before reaching adulthood. Smokey is a sentient, with a family, but unsafe from our human condition.
