The Hoofbeats Sanctuary family is growing! We are so excited to launch Kanyini Collective, a well-being centre that will be offering a range of programs designed to support the emotional, mental, spiritual, physical and social wellbeing of those in our community. We’ll have some of our amazing facilitators from here at the Sanctuary step out of the paddocks and into the treatment rooms, alongside a host of other professionals closely aligned with our values.
While we’re waiting for our future forever home, and operating at limited capacity on our interim Sanctuary, you would not believe how common it is to hear “oh, if only we had a space for…” in relation to something new we want to provide. We currently have space on-site for our equine-based programs but not much else. Embarrassingly, the answer was staring at us right in the face, we just didn’t put two and two together. We don’t need to wait for our new Sanctuary in the future – we can make our own space now! And that’s exactly what we’ve done.
Located at 7 Garnet Street Cooroy, Kanyini Collective has three spaces suited to both one-on-one and group programs. We’ll be open 9-5 Monday to Friday, and 9 till 1 on a Saturday, but we’ll also have a range of classes held outsides those times, both morning and evening. We also have a shop area with various goodies for sale, from clothing to artwork and homewares. If you’re local to the area, make sure to come on by and check out the range.
All the profits we raise will be returned here to Hoofbeats Sanctuary, in order to fund the free trauma-informed therapy services we provide. The waitlist for our equine therapy programs has ballooned to well over 40 weeks – that’s 9 months – and we just don’t have the resources currently to reduce that. There is an exceptional demand for the services we provide and any financial pressure we can help to relieve will make a huge difference. In the meantime, those on the waitlist will be offered spaces in the many programs that will be held at the Collective.
Calling All Practitioners!
If you can teach a class or provide a service in the wellbeing sector, and are looking for a space to work from – we want to hear from you! Being in Cooroy, we’re perfectly located for those in either the Noosa or Sunshine Coast regions. You’ll need to hold a relevant qualification and otherwise align with our values, but we want to cast our net wide and offer a range of services and classes.
We’re super interested in those who can teach or facilitate the following, so drop us a line and let’s have a chat if this is you:
- Yoga
- Pilates
- Exercise Physiology
- Breathwork
- Meditation & Mindfulness
- Ice Baths
- Vocal Activation / Choir
- Women’s Wellness Workshops
- Paint & Sip events
- Women’s Circle
- Art Therapy / Creative Arts Workshops
The Collective has three rooms available for rent. The Willow Room is furnished with two comfortable chairs and a beanbag, making it ideally suited to counselling or interview-based activities. The Magnolia Room is set up for bodywork type activities; it has a massage table and storage cabinet. Our third room is the Sunflower Studio, which is perfect for group programs. It can comfortably hold about 8 people standing for ‘active’ classes like yoga or pilates, but up to 30 people seated at tables or in rows. Along the side of the building, attached to the studio space, we have a sheltered outdoor area for clients to relax after their appointments before leaving.
The interest in these spaces has been super strong and it’s really taken us by surprise, so if you want to secure your spot, please follow the instructions for either hiring (short-term) or renting (long-term) a space.
Ways to Get Involved
Alongside the treatments rooms will be our very first permanent shopfront!
We’ve made sporadic appearances at various markets over the years, but we’ve never had a regular physical presence before that’s been always open to the public. The shop will be stocking some of our high-quality Hoofbeats Sanctuary merchandise, like t-shirts and tote bags, alongside some out-of-season branded products and artisan homewares we’ve had donated to us over the years. All of it is brand new. If you’re looking for something to fill that empty wall at home, we’ll also have rotating seasonal artwork left over from Seeing the Soul, our art competition fundraising event held in 2023 and 2024, available to purchase.
We’ll need a small army of volunteers to help run the shop, look after the stock and help out on the reception desk. We’re aiming to fill a number of four-hour shifts throughout the week, so if you have a few hours spare and want to give back to the community, we’d absolutely love to hear from you. Please head on over to the Kanyini Collective website to fill out a volunteer application form. We often have volunteer enquiries from those who are unable to commit to our Stable Team and this is the perfect opportunity for those looking to support our organisation in other ways.
Pay it Forward to Support Everyone
Continuing in the spirit of Hoofbeats Sanctuary, where services are provided to anyone who needs them, regardless of their ability to pay, Kanyini Collective will offer a similar initiative.
Our Pay-It Forward Passes allow those who are unable to afford certain of our classes to attend free of charge. Anyone can purchase a pass for a particular offering and they will allow someone to benefit from a class they would not otherwise be able to afford. For example, if you attended a breathwork session and loved it so much you want to share it, you’ll be able to purchase a Pay-It-Forward Pass which will let someone else attend the breathwork session who cannot afford it.
Anyone with a valid Health Care card or Pensioner Concession Card will be eligible to claim a Pay-It-Forward when ordering their tickets
If you’re a local business and want to sponsor a Pay it Forward pass, drop on into 7 Garnet Street within our opening hours, or send us an email. We’ll be able to get your branding in front of customers and it’s a great community service for your business to be associated with.
